Chaos Ring Plot Summary
Dreams begin to haunt Lady Sheru—dreams of her past life as Pirotesse. Her love, Ashram, is being tormented at the hands of the soul of Barbas posing as their former king, Beld of Marmo. Interpreting this as a plea for help, Sheru searches for a way to save him by entering the chaos realm using the Chaos Ring. Meanwhile, Redon and his friends are called to arms again as ancient creatures begin to appear after being sealed away for centuries. Both their paths will cross once again, and on their shoulders will the fate of Crystania lie.
My Thoughts on the Series
This series is a MUST if you're a fan of fantasy. It's 100% loyal to the fantasy RPG style we all love from Final Fantasy. You've got swordsmans, priests, wizards, summoners, half-breeds, gods... c'mon, what more can you ask for? You follow a young swordsman with a full battle party as they find their way through Crystania. Character development is balanced well; all the main characters have their own conflict to deal with. It's cool when you learn about Crystania and all the animal gods. I can't stress to you how great this series is! The movie was so good they continued the story in The Chaos Ring series.
Legend of Crystania is actually a spin-off series to Record of the Lodoss War. It follows what happens when Ashram and Pirotesse leave the dark island of Marmo. The art style is different so you won't immediately recognize the characters. It also references the magic of Lodoss. For example, Madam Adelishia (one of the main characters) is a follower of the holy mother, Goddess Marfa. It's cool how in the movie when she enters Crystania, people want her dead because of the great power she has following a god that's more powerful than the gods of Crystania.
Legend of Crystania
In a magical land governed by gods, a band of heroes struggle to stop an evil resurrection.
The Chaos Ring Episodes
Takes place not long after the movie. The enemy still isn't vanquished!
The god-killing dragon threatens to be awakened! Two twin children play a role.
Our heroes enter the chaos realm to stop Barbas once and for all!
My favorite song is the opening: Future Blowing Wind. The rest of the soundtrack is snazzy J-pop and anime suspense.
