The Game

You will need a Genesis (or Mega Drive) emulator to play Shining Force and the hacks offered on this page. And the remake for Game Boy Advance requires a Game Boy Advance emulator. ROM Hacks

What is “Pre-patched” and “Patch”? ROM hackers release their works as patches. In order to experience their hacks, you must apply their patch to the original game. With the “Pre-patched” download, I've saved you the trouble and patched the game for you. But if you insist on patching the game yourself, you can download just the patch with the “Patch” download. I have patching instructions in my patching guide.

This exciting hack offers a whole new experience for Shining Force! There are many tweaks to the gameplay, story, dialogue, and spells. You'll notice new features in the animated battle sequences: battle backgrounds from Shining Force CD, new sprites for enemies and Force members, and new weapon designs. There are new spell effects for staffs and spell users such as the iconic Blast from Shining in the Darkness! New abilities and ranges for most non-magic users; even enemies use these. Force members have more presence/dialogue in select scenes. All icons have been updated.

There are new gauntlet-like battles to spice things up during those treks to other towns. Your goal is to reach the destination against a horde trying to stop you. Hurry up and reach Alterone, Maxine! The starting team includes a female Max and Varios! Check out these screenshots from it! Learn more at their homepage.

Important note: Use emulator save states to save your game. In-game saving doesn't work.
