Three young girls, Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu, are transported to a magical world called Cephiro. They find out that High Priest Zagato has kidnapped the Pillar of Cephiro, Princess Emeraude.
Without Princess Emeraude's prayers, Cephiro would fall into ruin. To make it back home, Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu must fight off Zagato's henchman with the help of Cephiro's magic and the legendary Rune Gods.
Magic Knight Rayearth was released on the Super Famicon in Japan in 1995. It was developed by Pandora Box and published by Tomy. Although Magic Knight Rayearth never left Japan, in 1999 it unofficially became available in English thanks to fan translators. Additionally, it was the second Super Nintendo RPG in history to receive a fan translation.
Magic Knight Rayearth is a traditional style turn-based RPG. It closely follows the story of the popular anime TV series, featuring all significant characters and events. The game is highly nostalgic if you're a fan of the anime.
