A human, male swordsman. The leader of the Shining Force. He's strong and has good defense. Towards the end of the game, he learns some Bolt magic. Like every other main character in a Shining Force game, Deanna grows to be one of your strongest and most efficient fighters.

A human, female mage. Weak in strength and defense but has a nice collection of attack magic. Starts with the Shining Force in the beginning. Learns stronger Blaze spells faster than May. I like Natasha. She's so cute! It's useful for her to have the Egress spell too.

A centaur, male knight. A well-balanced soldier for the front lines. Starts with the Shining Force in the beginning. Eric has a tendency  to have to grow physically stronger Dawn. I don't like him that much because his nose bothers me. Look at it! It's so weird! It's scary!!

A centaur, female knight. A well-balanced soldier for the front lines. Starts with the Shining Force in the beginning. Dawn has a tendency  to have to have better defense than Eric. I like Dawn but I go for Eric since he's stronger.

A dwarf, male warrior. Strong in attack and defense but can't always keep up with everyone else. Jaha starts with the Shining Force in the beginning. If he had a longer range of movement then he would be a worthwhile character to have.

A human, male monk. Strong in attacks and defense. Also possesses the very helpful ability of healing magic. Starts with the Shining Force in the beginning. Don't trade him for anyone else, he's a must for your army! He gets stronger and stronger.

A human, male healer. Has weak defense, soso strength in attacks, and possesses healing magic. Joins the Shining Force while they pass through a town after the first two battles. When Sarah joins the Shining Force--drop this weakling for her!

A centaur, male ranger. Pretty strong with attacks and has soso defense. Joins the Shining Force after he shoots the gargoyle escaping with the Sword of Hajya. Tends to have stronger defense than Chester.

A human, male ranger. Pretty strong with attacks and has soso defense. Joins the Shining Force after Gordon leaves the throne room after he tells the Shining Force that the king was sacrificed to Iom. Chester tends to have stronger attacks than Graham.

A half-breed, female mage. Weak in strength and defense but has a nice collection of attack magic. Joins the Shining Force after the battle in the wrecked throne room. Learns stronger Freeze spells faster than Natasha. You're gonna love this mage, she learns the very powerful Level 3 Freeze quite early in the game when she reaches level 7. So that makes May awesome!! She kicks some major ass!

A bird-man bird battler. Pretty strong with attacks but doesn't have good defense. This character's biggest advantage is it's ability to fly. He joins the Shining Force after their battle on the ship. Claude is so strong compared to birdmen in other Shining Force games. So that makes him special.

A centaur, male paladin. Very strong with attacks and defense. A must for your army. He joins the Shining Force in the battle going up the cliff towards Algam Fort.  Randolf kicks so much ass.

A half-breed, female priest. She is the only priest in the game possessing the very useful Aura spell which heals multiple characters at once. She is a must for your army. At first she takes Mayfair's place for Natasha and her army but after they rescue Deanna and his army from the volcanic cave, she joins the Shining Force.

A human, male gladiator. He's very strong and he has good defense. Another must for your army. He joins the Shining Force when they reach Algam fort. Rhode is as strong as Randolf. They both kick ass.

A human, male ninja. He's pretty strong and has good defense. Higins also learns some attack magic. He's a secret character, if you want to know how to find him then check out the Secrets section.

A dogman, male fighter. He's strong in strength in defense. Gyan is one of the few survivors of Nick's army. He joins you before the battle with Iom's Statue that shoots beams of fire. Gyan rules! He's such an original character. No other Shining Force has a dog-like kung fu fighter like Gyan.

A human, male samurai. He's very strong and has great defense. He's a secret character too, if you want to know how to find him then check out the Secrets section. Rush sure is strong. If you want another great character in your army then Rush is your man.

A human, male swordsman. Nick is the prince of the Cypress Kingdom. He is the only one that can be equipped with the Sword of Hajya. That sword is the only thing that can weaken Iom so Nick must be in your army in order for you to beat the game. He joins you at the last battle. Nick is cool. He's my hero.
